At the beginning of the section, it seems that Walter and ruth are trying to a lot of different things before they get out of the house and as they are trying to do there own thing they have to worry about trying to get Travis up for school
they also seem like a poor family that struggles a lot trying to get money and they don't have a lot of money because when reading the son Travis ask his mom for 50 cents for school and she says she doesn't have it so he will need to go to school without it.
They are a struggling African American family living in poverty trying to live there lives check to check
