Play review

The play that was performed was the "curious incident of the dog un the night time" By Mark Haddon, I watched it on Friday 15 in the BlackBox theater. the play is about a 15-year-old boy named Christopher boon who has autism starts the play by finding a dead dog on the ground named wellington and he wanted to figure out who killed him so he went door to door asking people if they knew what happened to him but nobody had the answer for him. His dad named ed finally had enough of Christopher going around asking if people knew what happened and he told him that he is not allowed to keep invading people space and needs to just leave it alone and move on and its really hard for him to do that because he has ASD and sometimes when you have that disorder its really hard to move on from things when you are really focused on it. Christopher hasn't always had the best life his mom who he thought was dead because that's what his dad told him but she just moved someplace else with someone else and neither of his parents really know how to take care of a kid with ASD and they do something where I think if they were to just tell the truth things would have gone a lot smoother then they did. Eventually, Christopher starts to put some things together and finds out that his mother really isn't dead she just moved out with another guy and left them. then Christopher went on a journey to go find her because he always thought she was dead. His dad also lied to him saying he didn't know who killed wellington but the whole time he did know who did it because he was the one who killed wellington.

When I watched the play being performed it was a lot different than just reading it I realized a lot more things when watching the play then I did when reading it and I think that they did a really good job with there performance and I enjoyed watching it a lot. the moment during the performance that stuck out to me the most was the opening scene when Christopher finds wellington dead on the ground with a pitchfork in him I think that the person who was playing Christopher did a very good job especially because Christopher has autism so it was a lot harder for the person playing him but I think that she did a perfect job with it. also during that scene when the policeman came in he did a really good job when interacting with Christopher which made it feel even more realistic that the person playing Christopher actually had ASD.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this play because it makes you really think about what it would be like to have ASD and the things you need to do to get around the fact that you have that disorder. I also really enjoyed the performance and I think that everyone in the play did a really good job with there roles and it made it feel like I was watching a movie in real life.
