Poem questions
1. My first impression of this poem was it seemed kinda sad at first but then over the span of lines, it started to turn into something positive to help motivate the son to do good things with his life and when things get hard. At first, when I looked at the title of the poem it intrigued me to read about it and see what its all about because I could have been about many different things then it actually was if u were to just assume what it was about from the title.
2. Over time I realized there was a deeper meaning to the poem that the mother went through some hard times and had to push through when things got tough but she is in a better place now but is still having to work hard to better herself and she wanted to tell her son that so he can accomplish good things in life and maybe not have to go through what she had to. In the second line, the poet says " life for me ain't been no crystal stair." When the poet says this it means that the crystal stair is like having a good life and everything has been easy for you. The poet was trying to express what the mother is going1`1 through and how she is having a tough time in her life and she is trying to push through because she knows good things will be achieved at the end.
3. I like the way the poet used certain lines in the poem had a deep meaning like when they said " Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. It had tacks in it, and splinters and boards torn, and with no carpet on the floor." This quote means a lot that she has gone through some hard things in her life that she needed to push through to achieve whatever it was in life she was aiming for.
4.
Was this poem created from a true story and or past experience?
What is the actual meaning of this poem in the way the author interprets it?
why did the poet use a lot of similes and other things that had deeper meaning?
Why did the poet decide to write a poem like that that is kinda a shorter poem but has a lot meaning in something so small?
